“Peace is the beauty of life. It is sunshine. It is the smile of a child, the love of a mother, the joy of a father, the togetherness of a family. It is the advancement of man, the victory of a just cause, the triumph of truth.” -Menachem Begin
“Cherish your human connections – your relationships with friends and family.” -Barbara Bush
“When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child.” -Sophia Loren
Let me just start off by stating the obvious. Parents everywhere prepare to say “DUH.” Becoming a parent changes EVERYTHING. Right? It shakes up your life in a way that I never imagined. When I first found out I was pregnant, I knew that my life was going to change, but I really had no idea just how much. However, I want to be adamant about this, when I talk about how much my life has changed, how difficult it is, or how impossible it seems to find inspiration in the crazy chaos (not every day), I still would not change anything about my life. I have absolutely no regrets on becoming a mom. My boys are my greatest accomplishments.
My husband’s name is Ben. We have been together for almost seven years and married for five. He served 10 years in the Navy, and now he works hard for his family as a mechanic in the oil field. We had our first little boy on October 3, 2013, and we named him Nikola Alexander. Our second son, Sagan Phoenix, was born on May 21, 2016. I am a total BoyMom.
Nikola was named after the inventor Nikola Tesla. He is so smart, kind, funny, thoughtful, funny, and has a heart of gold. He is such an amazing big brother. He starts pre-K in just a week. I am so not ready for that. I am already plotting ways to get him out of that…..I mean, who really needs pre-K, right? 🙂 In fact, we did his “Meet the Teacher” today and I almost lost it. He was so proud of himself and he just looked so darn grown up. I love that he still seems to always find my hand. He can be asleep and still reaches for my hand. He loves his mama and he melts my heart. As of right now, he loves Peppa Pig, Paw Patrol, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and all superheroes. He’s my little gamer. He loves to play old school Super Mario with me and he even dressed up as Mario for Halloween last year.
Sagan was named after the astronomer Carl Sagan. He is my little ham. He loves to dress up, dance, sing, and he is overly dramatic about everything! He loves to do “yoda” with Mama. He follows big brother around like a little lost puppy and thinks he can do anything that big brother does. Nikola starts school on Monday and Sagan seriously thinks he is going with him because he has a backpack too. To a two-year-old, the only requirement for school is a backpack!
I can’t wait to see where they go in life and I love watching their bond continue to grow!
