Don’t Hit the Panic Button…Hit the Prayer Button

Wait“Any concern too small to be turned into a prayer is too small to be made into a burden.” – Corrie Ten Boom

“Our prayers may be awkward. Our attempts may be feeble. But since the power of prayer is in the one who hears it and not in the one who says it, our prayers do make a difference.” – Max Lucado

“There are parts of our calling, works of the Holy Spirit, and defeats of the darkness that will come no other way than through furious, fervent, faith-filled, unceasing prayer.” – Beth Moore

“God speaks in the silence of the heart. Listening is the beginning of prayer.” – Mother Teresa

“Don’t be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7

Hi, guys!! This post has been one of the most difficult to write, not because I don’t believe wholeheartedly in the theme, but the opposite actually. This has been so difficult because I believe so very much in the message I want to convey. I have also struggled with the thought that maybe I am not qualified to write this post. I love God. I love Jesus, but I am not going to sit here and tell you that I am the strongest I have ever been in my walk right now. In fact, I might be at my weakest point. I might even go as far as to say that I am feeling lost and defeated. Maybe that is exactly why I feel so strongly that God is calling me to write this. Maybe in my research, study, and back in forth with my brain and heart is exactly why God decided to challenge me with this. Maybe because He knows that I need prayer more now than ever before. So I decided to take the pressure off of myself. I am no longer writing this post in hopes of reaching fellow Christians or people on the verge of making the most important decision of their lives, to choose Christ, but instead to write this for myself, to strengthen my relationship with Christ and anything else that happens is a bonus, and all glory goes to God because I know there is no limit to what He can do. For weeks I have felt this push to write a few posts around the theme of prayer. And let me tell you God was not suttle with me on this. In fact, I pass a sign each day on the way to take my boys to school that says “Teach the people to PRAY!” Yeah. This wasn’t just a whisper. No joke every day I would say, “I get it. I’m working on it.” And I think God was saying “not fast enough!” 🙂

Classic Rock Mornings – Your Sunday Playlist – by Koral Dawn

Hello everyone! I’m Koral Dawn, a social media manager and marketing professional from Washington, USA. No, not Washington, DC; the other Washington on the west coast by California! You can find my blog here. But if you prefer to find me elsewhere, my Instagram is where I spend most of my time: @willowedawn

I’ve been recently going through some rough times with depression and anxiety after being laid off from my job that I moved 2800 miles away from home for. I had less than 24 hours’ notice that I didn’t have a job, and my manager didn’t even know until I did, about 10 minutes before. I think you’d be a little off if you were in my situation as well. Things could be worse… we all say that.

To make this story even more unfortunate, the following day, we were supposed to have our inspection of our new home that we had put an offer in on and actually won. We had to back out of everything. No more house, no more mortgage approval, almost lost our earnest money we had put down because we really wanted that home… nothing. Everything was gone, and we had to make a decision to stop the home buying because we didn’t know where we were going to be in a week, let alone 3 months.

Most days we spent it in bed after this happened. Laying there. Tired, unable to move. No motivation to really get up and do anything for a good solid 2 weeks. We didn’t know what to do. We had a planned vacation back home to PA coming up in 3 weeks, and no one was going to want to hire us if we were leaving for almost 2 weeks to spend with family. We were going to have to wait until we came back from that to really start the hunt for jobs. At that point, I was the most miserable person of myself that I have ever been.

Fast forward to now, I have not landed a job yet with an employer, however, my fiancé has. He finally got a call for a job interview and is now selling cars at the Ford dealer a few towns over and is so far winning at it. So the good news is we can stay in WA for now… and hopefully buy a home next year instead. It’s a little more complicated since we’ll be married by then but that’s okay – we’ll work it out! Armor of God.

Psalms 91

I’m going to let you in on a little secret. I have been working on two posts about prayer for a little over a week and my motivation is severely lacking. I believe that satan is attacking me every way that he can to get me to not finish these posts. I feel so strongly that they need to be written but my confidence is shaken and my faith is being tested. I did the only thing I knew to do. I reached out to family and friends in my Christian blogging groups and asked for prayers and encouragement. I want to share with you what they shared with me. I am determined to get these posts written and when I do it will be because God put these people in my life to help give me the strength to tell satan “not today. You don’t win.”  Keep On Reading!!
