Recently, I received a message on my Facebook page that I was nominated for the Liebster Award. It was a pleasant and humble surprise. Beth Elkassih, the author/blogger of Made You Smile Back, had seen my blog on one of her Facebook groups and wanted to nominate me for the Liebster Award 2018. Please check out Beth’s blog here. I urge everyone to check out her blog. It will definitely make you smile. 🙂
WHAT EXACTLY IS THE LIEBSTER AWARD?
The Liebster Award is an award for bloggers, nominated by bloggers, that promotes the discovery of new blogs. It’s a great way for new bloggers to grow their audience and for people to discover new blogs. Being a new blogger is not easy! This nomination is such an honor and privilege for me. I started my venture into the blogging world in August of this year. I have met so many talented bloggers, of all niches. The amazing thing is they all are so kind to want to reach out and support one another. Learn more about the Liebster Award here.
WHY I STARTED BLOGGING
I am a wife and a mother to two little boys, ages 5 and 2. My tank is fueled by coffee, hugs, giggles, and lots of wet kisses. I spend my days dodging Nerf bullets, jumping over little cars, cleaning up spills, wiping runny noses, washing a million loads of laundry a day, and etc…to name just a few.
I love God. I love Jesus. I love my husband and my boys. I would do absolutely anything for them, but before (and still now, at times) starting this blog I was struggling to find inspiration in all the chaos. I went from working in a classroom to running my own district for Texas AgriLife Extension, part of Texas A&M. I was in control of 20 plus counties and I was only 25. I felt like I was successful and relevant. Writing has always been a huge part of my life and who I am, but I hadn’t written anything new since becoming a mom.
I have no regrets about my little boys, but I do think that moms tend to put themselves on the back burner. I had slowly forgotten who I was before mommy, so this blog is my way of finding myself again and really learning to be grateful in every moment, even the sticky, messy ones. I still love too quickly, love too easily, and give too freely. I’m still far from perfect, and I seriously ask myself daily “how bad am I messing up my kids?” But little by little, this blog is helping me to change my perspective and love every crazy turn along the way.
5 RANDOM FACTS ABOUT ME
- I’m a bit obsessive about cleanliness and personalization. I know some people that would adamantly agree with this statement. 😀
- Everything on my computer is perfectly organized in folders within a folder, within folder…etc.
- I am terribly afraid of clowns. I blame the original made for TV movie, IT. I was way too young when I saw this.
- I tend to overthink, which probably gets me into trouble and doesn’t help with my anxiety.
- Sometimes I talk way too fast!
OUT OF ALL THE PLACES YOU HAVE VISITED, WHICH WAS YOUR FAVORITE?
When my husband and I went ziplining in Wimberley, Texas. It was the most amazing thing I have ever done. It was so beautiful. <3
IF YOU COULD TRAVEL ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
Hands down, Greece! It is so beautiful and it just emits feelings of peace and calm.
WOULD YOU RATHER, WEAR SHOES EVERY SECOND FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, OR NEVER BE ALLOWED TO WEAR SHOES AGAIN?
My first thought is, NO SHOES!! Because I love being barefoot. However, then I start to think about stickers and, well, ouch! 🙁 So I think I will stick with some good, ol’ tennis shoes for the rest of my life.
IF YOU COULD SHAPESHIFT INTO ANY ANIMAL WHAT WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
This question took me a minute to come up with my choice. The world has so many amazing animals. Would I like to reside in the water? Or the air? Snow? Desert? I had to go with the magnificent eagle. They are so beautiful. You can’t help but be amazed while watching them soar through the air. Grant it, the idea of scavenging for my food doesn’t sound like a blast, but can you imagine the beautiful sites you could take in while flying gracefully through the air?
IF YOU HAD A CHANCE FOR A DO-OVER IN YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD YOU DO DIFFERENTLY?
This one is kind of tough. At first, my mind drifts to many things that I wish I had done differently, or not done at all. However, I am a firm believer in everything happens for a reason and every decision you make leads you to where you are now. I wouldn’t want to do anything differently because I would be too afraid that it would change the way my life has ended up.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
I’m not really sure I am qualified to answer this yet. Ha! This is the whole reason I started this blog. To help me remember what inspires me and to be inspired amidst all the chaos. However, I have learned that I am inspired by many things. My family inspires me daily. My boys keep me going. God and Jesus Christ inspire me. I am inspired by the vastness that is our world. You just have to remind yourself to slow down sometimes and take it all in.
WHO DO YOU ADMIRE MOST IN LIFE?
My beautiful MaMaw. First and foremost, I remember that she was always there for me. I could truly call her anytime, day or night. She also introduced me to the wonderful, the marvelous “midnight snack.” 🙂 You truly could not go to bed at her house before partaking in this said event. My mamaw went ALL OUT! She had all sorts of goodies in her cabinets…….Fritos and bean dip, ice cream, chocolate, homemade cookies of all kinds, homemade Rice Krispie treats, and homemade cakes and pies, to name just a few. If our particular cravings were not satisfied by what we found in her kitchen then it was not beyond us to make a trip to Wal-Mart or a 24 hour drive through….after all, sleep could not be had without this “midnight snack.” We made several trips to places like McDonald’s and Taco Bell. She is the only person I know that could break her foot jumping up out of bed to answer the phone. However, to show you a little about how important her job as a nurse was…she went onto work that night with a broken foot. Then spent the next few weeks in a cast and rolling around the hospital in a wheelchair. She was so strong and so kind. <3
WHAT ARE YOU MOST AFRAID OF?
I think I am most afraid of not getting the chance to watch my children grow up. The thought of them going through life without me is really scary. In fact, I can’t write about this anymore…next question.
YOU CAN ONLY KEEP 5 POSSESSIONS. WHAT ARE YOU KEEPING AND WHY?
- My Bible
- My phone, even though it might not work it would still have ALL my pictures on it.
- My home for shelter.
- Clothes for my kids.
IF YOU HAD 3 WISHES GRANTED TO YOU BY A GENIE, WHAT WOULD YOUR WISHES BE? (NO WISHING FOR MORE WISHES!)
