Shout Out Saturday: Must Follow Blogs!

Shout Out Saturday

“Raise your words, not your voice. It is rain that grows flowers, not thunder.” -Rumi

“Handle them carefully, for words have more power than atom bombs.” -Pearl Strachan Hurd

“You can always edit a bad page. You can’t edit a blank page.” -Jodi Picoult

“Start writing, no matter what. The water does not flow until the faucet is turned on.” -Louis L’Amour

Writers often get inspiration from other writers. Often times, if I am feeling stuck I can find motivation for my next blog topic by immersing myself in other blogs. Here are a few of my go-to blogs. Need some new reading material? I invite you to check each one of them out. You will not be disappointed. ❤

Failure To Thrive No More

Jennie is a military spouse, fitness loving, mom of two boys. She is a Special Needs Advocate since learning about her son’s Dyrk1a Syndrome diagnosis in April 2018. Failure To Thrive No More is a great inspirational stop, especially if you need to be reminded that you aren’t alone in your mom journey with a special needs child. Jennie will leave you feeling like you can conquer anything life throws at you and you won’t be able to not fall in love with her beautiful little boys. I root for Jaxson daily and love getting to hear about his journey. Failure To Thrive No More is a must for parents that need encouragement for their special needs children. ❤ I am proud to call this girl my friend and I am beyond grateful to have found her in this crazy blogging world. I recently interviewed Jennie and you can find that interview here. My favorites from Failure To Thrive No More:

Empty Next Lifestyle

Kids all out of the house? New to the empty nest life? Sheila will inspire you to look at your empty nest as an opportunity, instead of a new, lonely phase of life. Sheila writes about topics from mental health to family and she shares her amazing talents as a potter. Empty Next Lifestyle is great for anyone with an artistic soul and parents in need of inspiration for their new phase of life. On a personal note, I admire Sheila’s strength to speak so openly about her mental health. As someone that has had my own battles, I understand how difficult it can be. However, I believe that the topics that are hard to discuss are the ones that are the exact topics that need to have light brought upon them. I have been blessed enough to do a couple of Bible studies with this woman and I am constantly blown away by her kindness and strength. I am blessed to call this woman my friend. My favorites from Empty Next Lifestyle:

Witte’s World

Need inspiration for anything travel, food, or life-related then head on over to Witte’s World. Linda has a way about her that makes you feel like you are family. On a personal note, Linda reminds me of my grandmother that passed away in 2012. A heart that always seems to be smiling, even when she is struggling, and someone that I think would give away her last penny to family and friends. Linda has become a friend and has helped and inspired me more than I could ever put into words. I am not even sure if Linda has any idea just how grateful I am to her. You can also find helpful material if you are looking into starting your own blog. Check out Witte’s World for adventures, good eats, and stories that will leave you wanting more. You won’t be disappointed. ❤

Love That Max

Love That Max is a blog written by a mom whose son, Max, has cerebral palsy. This blog is about raising awareness as well as providing support and advice to other moms with kids who have special needs. I believe the tagline for this blog says it best, “a blog about kids with disabilities who kick butt.” Love That Max is a great source of inspiration for mamas of children with special needs. Max has two siblings, so things can get hectic for his mom and she doesn’t shy away from telling all about the struggles and joys of being a mom with a special needs child. Here are a few of my favorites at Love That Max:

Jen’s Blah Blah Blog

Jen’s Blah Blah Blog is made up of several moms that love to share their thoughts on the above topics as well. You can find the full list of contributors here.
