July 7 Facts About Me

  1. I hated my name as a kid. It was a cool thing to have a short nickname when I was younger. For example, Nic for Nicole…You couldn’t do much with Lana. 🙂 Now I love my name because it is different and I do not hear it often.
  2. I’m a bit obsessive about cleanliness and personalization. I know some people that would adamantly agree with this statement. 😀
  3. Everything on my computer is perfectly organized in folders within a folder, within folder…etc.
  4. I’m a good listener but if I get excited about the topic then expect frequent interruption. When I am passionate about something it is hard for me to keep still or quiet. ❤
  5. I tend to overthink, which probably gets me into trouble and doesn’t help with my anxiety.
  6. Sometimes I talk way too fast!
  7. I need to learn to say no more often.

This list was surprisingly hard for me to come up with. I write all the time and share a lot about my life, but trying to come up with 7 facts about myself took a little more time than I expected… 🙂

Classic Rock Mornings – Your Sunday Playlist – by Koral Dawn

Hello everyone! I’m Koral Dawn, a social media manager and marketing professional from Washington, USA. No, not Washington, DC; the other Washington on the west coast by California! You can find my blog here. But if you prefer to find me elsewhere, my Instagram is where I spend most of my time: @willowedawn

I’ve been recently going through some rough times with depression and anxiety after being laid off from my job that I moved 2800 miles away from home for. I had less than 24 hours’ notice that I didn’t have a job, and my manager didn’t even know until I did, about 10 minutes before. I think you’d be a little off if you were in my situation as well. Things could be worse… we all say that.

To make this story even more unfortunate, the following day, we were supposed to have our inspection of our new home that we had put an offer in on and actually won. We had to back out of everything. No more house, no more mortgage approval, almost lost our earnest money we had put down because we really wanted that home… nothing. Everything was gone, and we had to make a decision to stop the home buying because we didn’t know where we were going to be in a week, let alone 3 months.

Most days we spent it in bed after this happened. Laying there. Tired, unable to move. No motivation to really get up and do anything for a good solid 2 weeks. We didn’t know what to do. We had a planned vacation back home to PA coming up in 3 weeks, and no one was going to want to hire us if we were leaving for almost 2 weeks to spend with family. We were going to have to wait until we came back from that to really start the hunt for jobs. At that point, I was the most miserable person of myself that I have ever been.

Fast forward to now, I have not landed a job yet with an employer, however, my fiancé has. He finally got a call for a job interview and is now selling cars at the Ford dealer a few towns over and is so far winning at it. So the good news is we can stay in WA for now… and hopefully buy a home next year instead. It’s a little more complicated since we’ll be married by then but that’s okay – we’ll work it out! The Blogger Recognition Award

I feel so humbled and so excited to announce that I have been nominated for the Blogger Recognition Award! This is so exciting! It is my first award. 🙂

What Is The Blogger Recognition Award?

The award is a way that we recognize and support each other as bloggers, and especially to show that we appreciate how much time, work, energy, and effort goes into producing and maintaining a high-quality blog. It is a humbling experience to be recognized from two of my fellow bloggers (and friends) this past week. Keep On Reading!

Pearls of Wisdom.

According to Merriam-Webster, a pearl of wisdom is defined as “a wise word or statement; often humorous.” Recently I came across some handwritten words of wisdom from my MaMaw Nina, who passed away in 2012. It inspired me to reach out to family and friends to make a collection of “pearls of wisdom.” The times have changed and the world we live in today is so much more fast-paced and materialistic than it was before when my grandparents and great-grandparents were growing up. I asked my family and friends to share their pearls of wisdom, anything that they think needs to be passed down to the next generation. This is an inspiring post for me and I plan on referring back to it many times, but I really want to be able to pass this along to my boys when they get older. I hope you find some of these pearls, inspiring, uplifting, helpful, and maybe even funny. Life was slower and so much more simple, even just 10 years ago. My hope is these little gems will help you slow down a bit and take a moment to learn something new or be inspired. Keep On Reading!
