Thankful Sunday 1

“The unthankful heart discovers no mercies; but the thankful heart will find, in every hour, some heavenly blessings.” –Henry Ward Beecher

“Sometimes the little things in life mean the most.” –Ellen Hopkins

I want to take part in giving thanks every day in November, but I wasn’t really keen on the idea of doing a short post every day because some days it might literally be a sentence. I decided to do #Thankful Sunday. Each Sunday I will do a post that includes a week’s worth of giving thanks! 🙂 🙂  Keep On Reading!!

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” Matthew 7:24-27

“For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 3:11

I fully intend on going back to my topic of prayer, but something has been placed on my heart over the last few days. I was driving, on my way to take my son to pre-k, and song after song kept coming on the radio that centered around the concept that you need to draw your strength from Christ, have faith that He knows what he is doing, and God already has everything written. Have you ever had one of those moments where every single song seemed to be talking to you, directly meant for you and you alone to hear? I was just shaking my head up and down…yes! Yep! Yes! And then something clicked for me. I had a moment where I went, “ah. I get it. I get it, Lord.” Keep On Reading!!

Don’t Hit the Panic Button…Hit the Prayer Button

Wait“Any concern too small to be turned into a prayer is too small to be made into a burden.” – Corrie Ten Boom

“Our prayers may be awkward. Our attempts may be feeble. But since the power of prayer is in the one who hears it and not in the one who says it, our prayers do make a difference.” – Max Lucado

“Prayer is simply talking to God like a friend and should be the easiest thing we do each day.” – Joyce Meyer

“There are parts of our calling, works of the Holy Spirit, and defeats of the darkness that will come no other way than through furious, fervent, faith-filled, unceasing prayer.” – Beth Moore

“God speaks in the silence of the heart. Listening is the beginning of prayer.” – Mother Teresa

“Don’t be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7

Hi, guys!! This post has been one of the most difficult to write, not because I don’t believe wholeheartedly in the theme, but the opposite actually. This has been so difficult because I believe so very much in the message I want to convey. I have also struggled with the thought that maybe I am not qualified to write this post. I love God. I love Jesus, but I am not going to sit here and tell you that I am the strongest I have ever been in my walk right now. In fact, I might be at my weakest point. I might even go as far as to say that I am feeling lost and defeated. Maybe that is exactly why I feel so strongly that God is calling me to write this. Maybe in my research, study, and back in forth with my brain and heart is exactly why God decided to challenge me with this. Maybe because He knows that I need prayer more now than ever before. So I decided to take the pressure off of myself. I am no longer writing this post in hopes of reaching fellow Christians or people on the verge of making the most important decision of their lives, to choose Christ, but instead to write this for myself, to strengthen my relationship with Christ and anything else that happens is a bonus, and all glory goes to God because I know there is no limit to what He can do. For weeks I have felt this push to write a few posts around the theme of prayer. And let me tell you God was not suttle with me on this. In fact, I pass a sign each day on the way to take my boys to school that says “Teach the people to PRAY!” Yeah. This wasn’t just a whisper. No joke every day I would say, “I get it. I’m working on it.” And I think God was saying “not fast enough!” 🙂

Armor of God.

Psalms 91

I’m going to let you in on a little secret. I have been working on two posts about prayer for a little over a week and my motivation is severely lacking. I believe that satan is attacking me every way that he can to get me to not finish these posts. I feel so strongly that they need to be written but my confidence is shaken and my faith is being tested. I did the only thing I knew to do. I reached out to family and friends in my Christian blogging groups and asked for prayers and encouragement. I want to share with you what they shared with me. I am determined to get these posts written and when I do it will be because God put these people in my life to help give me the strength to tell satan “not today. You don’t win.”  Keep On Reading!!
